Overview of Zhenghe Gongfu Tea
Zhenghe Gongfu Tea is one of the three major Gongfu black teas of Fujian Province and is the most distinctive high-mountain-style strip-shaped tea among Fujian black teas. The finished tea is primarily made from the Zhenghe Da Bai tea variety, with appropriate blending of Gongfu black tea selected from small-leaf tea tree varieties that feature a rich floral aroma. The initial processing of Zhenghe Gongfu tea involves withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying. During refinement, the two semi-finished teas must be sorted according to specific specifications, graded by tip quality, processed into their respective forms, and then blended in specific proportions according to quality standards to create teas of various grades.
Zhenghe Gongfu Tea Tasting
Zhenghe Gongfu tea is divided into two types based on variety: large-leaf tea and small-leaf tea. Large-leaf tea is made from Zhenghe Da Bai tea, featuring tightly rolled, round leaves, a deep red infusion colour, a high and sweet aroma, a rich taste, and robust, reddish leaves. Small-leaf tea is made from small-leaf tea varieties, with slender, tightly rolled leaves, an aroma similar to Keemun black tea, a mellow taste, and evenly red leaves.
